Growing up with Indian parents, I'm exposed to Indian customs and traditions at home. Dad always make Indian foods. When my uncle visits Naga City, he makes the best biryani and chicken-ground pork "bola-bola." Yum! And my all-time favorite chapati! I only know one dish... It's actually an Indian breakfast. Indian music is also one of my interest. I love bollywood! I always watch Indian dances. I find the steps very sexy. Indian language freaks me out though! I only know a few words which we use as family codes. BEWARE when one of us speaks the language, that means we're talking about YOU! haha!
When Slumdog Millionaire hits the movie screen, I wasn't really that interested watching it. However, I've been reading beautiful comments about the movie and for my curiosity's sake, I finally downloaded the movie. I'm glad that I've downloaded a high-definition copy of the movie. Otherwise, I wouldn't want to watch it.
Hallelujah! The movie was great! I've watched it 2 times already. The movie was about a guy named Jamal Malik who grew up from the slums of India and who was about to win 2 million rupees in the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? The host believed that the guy was cheating cos he has no formal education and yet, he has answered all the questions right. And so, the host of the show let Jamal arrested for cheating. The policemen tortured him and interrogated him on how he knew the answers. Jamal then explains that he knew the answers of most questions by chance because of things that happened in his life. All the questions thrown at him at the game show were connected to his life. The movie was also a love story. Ohh, I love Latika (Freida Pinto). She's so pretty! I'm not surprised that this movie got almost all the awards at the Oscars! Bravo!
The best part of this movie is the song Jai Ho, from which I titled this blog. I praise God for all the blessings I have received! Jai Ho! I really like the song and I actually practiced the steps of the dance. The steps are so easy. Dad also likes the song and we're glad that it won the Oscars! It actually has an English version sung by the Pussycat Dolls. Here's the lyrics of the song:
Jai Ho!
Aaja aaja jind shamiyaane ke taley
Aaja zari waale neele aasmaane ke taley
Jai Ho!
Ratti ratti sachchi maine jaan gawayi hai
Nach Nach koylon pe raat bitaayi hai
Ankhiyon ki neend maine phoonkon se udaa di
Gin gin taarey maine ungli jalayi hai
Eh Aaja aaja jind shamiyaane ke taley
Aaja zari waale neele aasmaane ke taley
Baila! Baila!
(Dance! Dance!)
Ahora conmigo, tu baila para hoy
(Now with me, you dance for today)
Por nuestro dia de movidas,
(For our day of moves,)
los problemas los que sean
(whatever problems may be)
Salud!
(Cheers!)
Baila! Baila!
(Dance! Dance!)
Jai Ho!
Chakh le, haan chakh le, yeh raat shehed hai
Chakh le, haan rakh le,
Dil hai, dil aakhri hadd hai
Kaala kaala kaajal tera
Koi kaala jaadu hai na
Aaja aaja jind shamiyaane ke taley
Aaja zari waale neele aasmaane ke taley
Jai Ho!
Kab se haan kab se jo lab pe ruki hai
Keh de, keh de, haan keh de
Ab aankh jhuki hai
Aisi aisi roshan aankhein
Roshan dono heerey hain kya
Aaja aaja jind shamiyaane ke taley
Aaja zari waale neele aasmaane ke taley
Jai Ho!
